In 2023, I worked full-time with Ohayosarah, a luxury fashion couture brand. My role involved designing and developing the company’s profile and gallery website to showcase their unique couture collections. The site was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, creating a static, responsive web presence that allowed for visual storytelling while ensuring seamless performance across devices.

  • Collaborated closely with the Ohayosarah team to understand the brand’s vision, ensuring that the design reflected the sophistication and elegance of their couture offerings.

  • Developed wireframes and mockups that emphasized a minimalistic, high-end aesthetic, with an emphasis on large imagery and clean typography to draw attention to the fashion pieces.

  • Focused on creating a seamless gallery experience for showcasing the couture collections, making use of hover effects, smooth transitions, and dynamic image scaling to enhance the visual experience.

  • Development Phase:

    • HTML & CSS: Developed a fully responsive layout that adapted to various screen sizes, from desktops to mobile devices. The design prioritized image quality and load performance while maintaining consistency across devices.

    • JavaScript: Implemented interactive elements like gallery sliders, hover animations, and smooth scrolling to add dynamism to the user experience without overloading the site with complex scripts. These elements were carefully optimized to ensure fast load times, even with large, high-resolution images.

    • Ensured cross-browser compatibility and tested extensively across platforms to ensure a smooth user experience.

  • Manual Updates:

    • Since the website was static, all updates, such as new collections, press releases, and gallery updates, were handled manually by coding in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This workflow was designed to be flexible for quick content updates based on Ohayosarah’s requests, without the need for a content management system (CMS).

  • Challenges Addressed:

    • Image Optimization: To showcase the fashion designs in high quality without sacrificing performance, I employed a combination of image compression techniques and lazy loading for galleries, ensuring fast load times while maintaining visual fidelity.

    • Responsive Design: Achieved a cohesive experience across devices by focusing on media queries and flexible layouts, ensuring that the website was accessible and visually appealing on all screen sizes.
