This project was part of my UI/UX bootcamp experience at Purwadhika Technology School, Jakarta, in 2022. The focus was on redesigning and enhancing the user experience of the BreadTalk Mobile App, a popular app for ordering bakery goods in Indonesia. This personal study case allowed me to apply critical design methodologies learned during the bootcamp and improve the app's usability and overall user satisfaction.

  • 3D models of the Honda WRV 2023 and Kawasaki ZX 25 R 2023 were purchased from a reputable online 3D marketplace.

  • Animation & Rendering: Utilize a real-time render engine built into the 3D animation software for efficient creation and high-quality output.

User Research:

  • Conducted user surveys and interviews to understand the challenges customers faced when ordering from the BreadTalk app, their preferences for browsing and checkout, and what motivates repeat purchases.

  • Developed user personas based on gathered insights, focusing on frequent customers and first-time users.

  • Pain Points:

    • Identified user pain points such as difficulty navigating the menu, a confusing checkout process, and limited access to loyalty program information.

    • Users expressed a need for quicker order customization options and more visible promotional offers.

  • Design Solutions:

    • Redesigned Product Categories: Improved the organization of product categories to enhance findability, with clear labels and visual aids to help users quickly locate items like bread, cakes, and beverages.

    • Streamlined Checkout: Reduced the number of steps required to complete a purchase by consolidating payment and delivery information into a single page. Introduced a "quick order" feature for repeat purchases.

    • Enhanced Loyalty Program Visibility: Created a dedicated section for loyalty points, promotions, and special offers, making them more prominent on the homepage.

    • Visual Design Updates: Refreshed the app’s UI with a cleaner, more minimalist design, maintaining BreadTalk’s brand identity through appetizing visuals, a warm color palette, and modern typography.

    • Added Microinteractions: Implemented subtle animations for adding items to the cart, transitioning between screens, and checking out to make the experience more dynamic and engaging.

  • Prototyping and Usability Testing:

    • Built interactive prototypes using Figma, focusing on the updated checkout process, loyalty program, and product browsing experience.

    • Conducted multiple rounds of usability testing with sample users to gather feedback on the design. Iterated on the prototypes based on user responses, improving ease of use and clarity.

  • Hypothetical Outcomes:

    • Estimated improvements in app engagement, with users spending more time browsing products and completing purchases more quickly.

    • Hypothetical data suggested a potential 30% increase in repeat orders due to the enhanced loyalty program experience and a 20% reduction in checkout abandonment rates.
